System of a Down music
System of a Down have released five studio albums (so far), their debut album System of a Down heralded the arrival of a major player on the rock scene and secured the band opening slots on the Slayer and Ozzfest tours of that year. It was, however, the band's second album Toxicity that saw the band at their most successful, and brilliant. With massive songs like System of a Down "Chop Suey", "Aerials" and "Prison Song" rocking the airwaves and still remain firm favourites to this day, more than 15 years later. Toxicity went multi-platinum and secured numerous award wins and nominations. System of a Down albums also include Steal This Album! (2002), Mezmerize (2005) and Hypnotize (2005). It has been years since System of a Down have released a new album. However, rumours are rife that the band are working on something new. In late 2016, the System of a Down new album was confirmed and they are still working hard in the studio. Fans will need to be patient because, as drummer John Dolmayan says "This needs to be something for a new generation of SOAD fans, so everyone can see we’re not resting on our laurels. I’m not gonna put my name on an album I’m not 100 percent proud of".
System of a Down members
System formed in California in the mid-'90s like similar bands the Deftones and Korn. The System of a Down members are Vocalist Serj Tankian, guitarist Daron Malakian, bassist Shavo Odadjian, and drummer John Dolmayan. Original drummer Andy Khachaturian left the band in 1997, just before the release of System of a Down's debut album.
