The Rolling Stones: 1950s Blues to International Stardom
Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards were simply blues mad and wanted to replicate the likes of Chuck Berry in the UK. Luckily for the South London boys, the great winter of 1962/63 allowed the band to replace others who were supposed to be performing huge gigs in the West End. News quickly spread of a live act energetic and fitting for the rebellious 60s era. Soon the group were performing across both Europe and the US and fans were beginning to view the Stones as a rival to the Beatles (the most successful British group ever!). However, where the Beatles were smart and sophisticated the Rolling Stones appeared dangerous and red-hot.
In 1965, there was even a riot in Munich as screaming girls had to be restrained by security as they desperately attempted to get a glimpse of the Stones after the concert. Despite internal strife and clear effects of the excesses that go hand in hand with the rock n roll lifestyle, the name "The Rolling Stones" and the image of the red-tongue has become synonmous with the very best rock n roll music.
And now the Rolling Stones are back with a new album! Titled Blue & Lonesome the music should take you all the way back to the origins of this legendary band. Their first studio album in ten years shows that the blues is "the fountainhead of everything they (The Rolling Stones) do". Want to be there live? Make sure you buy Rolling Stones tickets promptly!
